Carmine’s ‘Q’d Balls o’Meat

Ingredients

  • 680 g (1 1/2 lb) ground beef
  • 5 ml (3/4 cup) oats
  • 250 ml (1 cup) milk
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) finely minced onion, divided
  • 5 ml (1 1/2 tsp) salt
  • Fresh ground black pepper, to taste
  • 250 ml (1 cup) all-purpose flour
  • Canola oil, for browning
  • 375 ml (1 ½ cups) Carmine’s ‘Q Sauce
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) beef stock

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, oats, milk, 3 tablespoons of onion, salt, and pepper. Roll into medium-small balls and place on a baking sheet. Place the sheet in the freezer for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the meatballs from the freezer and immediately dredge in the flour.
  4. In a skillet, heat a few tablespoons of canola oil over medium heat.
  5. Fry the meatballs until just brown. Place into a baking dish.
  6. In a bowl, combine Carmine’s ‘Q Sauce, water and remainder of minced onions; pour over the meatballs and bake for 45 minutes.
